Title: K-Sealer: does root canal sealer still have the same role in obturation ?

Abstract:

Filling a root canal is classically performed using a gutta-percha solid cone in combination with a sealer. Initially, this was done using lateral condensation, which was eventually superseded by warm vertical compaction.

More recently rather than aiming for a hermetic seal of the root canal, a more biological approach is being undertaken in which the sealers aim at interacting with the root dentin, resulting in bioactivity. Single cone obturation in combination with calcium silicate based sealer resulted in significantly less porosity compared with other filling techniques.

During this lecture, the advantages and benefits of a new calcium silicate based sealer, the K-Sealer from REKITA (Lebanese dental products) will be presented.
