Dentist/Laboratory Collaboration — A Vital Part of Successful Treatment

Abstract:

Communication between dentists and dental laboratories is vital. Every successful treatment has a clear communication line behind. The traditional process of writing down a prescription and drawing some sketches to illustrate a plan has been superseded by advanced technology.

New communication technologies allow us to conference without leaving your respective offices, and see, explain, and understand each other’s perspectives before the completion date. Advanced methods can now be used for both communications with dentists and management of cases in a more accurate and time-efficient manner.

Creating a solid relationship with our dental technician implies a transparent collaboration that allows to flow seamlessly. The combined knowledge of the dentist and technologist are key to a successful case.

Our goal today is to discuss the main aspects of the communication process between the dentist and the laboratory. What is the most effective method of communication available to the dentist? How can the laboratory assist the dentist in the treatment planning and treatment execution phases? What are the responsibilities of the clinician to the patient and the laboratory? What are the responsibilities of the laboratory to the prescribing dentist?
