Degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Salamanca. Specialist in Stomatology at the University of the Basque Country. Doctor in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Valencia, further studies at international institutions in the United States (Philadelphia, New York, Miami) and in Europe (Italy, Germany, France, and, of course, Spain). Honorary Degree at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA).

As the founder and Scientific Director of BTI Biotechnology Institute, he combines scientific research with work at a private clinic, as well as directing the University Institute for Regenerative Medicine and Oral Implantology at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and presiding over the foundation which bears his name.

Dr. Eduardo Anitua is globally renowned for being a pioneer in the development of bioimplantology and tissue regeneration techniques, as well as for being the lead behind Plasma Rich in Growth Factors technology (Endoret®) and its application in different areas of medicine, from oral and maxillofacial surgery to orthopedics, sports medicine, dermatology, aesthetic medicine, or, more recently, ophthalmology, reproductive medicine, and general surgery, and in doing so, contributing to improving the quality of life of thousands of patients each year.

He has 51 international patents, he has authored over 280 scientific articles published in indexed journals (one of which is amongst the 10 most cited articles on Oral Surgery in the global scientific literature), several hundred more in clinical journals, as well as over 25 surgical books and manuals across different areas of medicine. Productivity and scientific quality as a researcher whose impact is evidenced in Index H of 65 and in his over 22,000 accumulated citations. Furthermore, Eduardo Anitua has been listed in the “Ranking of the World Scientists: World´s Top 2% Scientists” published by Stanford University, as the most influential Spanish researcher in Dentistry and ranked number 58 in the world.

Awarded the National Innovation Prize in 2021 in the Innovative Trajectory category, “for exceptionally embodying the innovative spirit in service of people and the improvement of their health and quality of life, in an indisputable example of how to successfully carry out the transfer of knowledge and collaboration between the public and private sectors”.

He has given over 600 courses and lectures on oral implantology and regenerative medicine at national and international conferences around the world. He has been an invited professor at more than 50 universities, on an international and national level.

Throughout his lengthy professional career he has received numerous prizes and awards, including:
